Why Ecology Matters

When probiotics are consumed and reach the gut, they are outnumbered by a million-to-one by the resident members of the gut microbiota. Therefore, to be successful as a probiotic and produce health benefits, strains must be able to grow in the gut, compete for resources, and produce beneficial end-products.

At Synbiotic Health, we have developed novel strain discovery platforms that rely on ecological principles. Based on these approaches, we have developed a portfolio of strains that are well adapted to the gut ecosystem of interest.
